Q1: What is Costfield?
A: Costfield is a specialised application designed for professionals in the film, television, and media industries. It allows you to quickly create, manage, and send everything from quick ballpark estimates to detailed formal quotes for picture and sound production and post-production services.
Q2: How does the free trial work?
A: Our trial is designed to give you the full Costfield experience without a time limit. Instead of a 14-day trial, you can create up to 3 complete quotes (either ballpark or formal) with access to all of our premium features. After you have created your third quote, you will be prompted to subscribe to continue using the service.
Q3: How do I sign up and start my trial?
A: It's simple! Click the 'Sign Up' button on our homepage. Enter your email and create a secure password. You'll be logged straight into your account, and your 3-quote trial will begin immediately.
Q4: Is Costfield a desktop app or a web app?
A: Costfield is a web-based application, which means you don't need to download or install any software. You can access it from any modern web browser like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge on your computer or tablet.
Using the App (Features)
Q5: What's the difference between a "Ballpark" and a "Formal Quote"?
A: Ballpark: Designed for quick estimates when you don't have all the details. It uses broader strokes to give a client a general idea of the cost. Formal Quote: A detailed, line-itemed document perfect for final proposals. It includes specific rates, quantities, subtotals, and can be customised with your full company branding.
Q6: Can I customise quotes with my own company logo and details?
A: Absolutely. In your account settings, you can upload your company logo, add your address and contact details, and include payment information. This branding will automatically appear on all your formal quotes.
Q7: Can I save line items or create my own templates for future use?
A: Yes. This is a core feature to speed up your workflow. You can save common line items, create groups of items (e.g., "Standard Audio Mix Package"), and even save entire quotes as templates for new projects.
Q8: How do I send a quote to a client?
A: Once your quote is ready, you can generate a professional PDF to attach to your own emails. You can also send a direct link to the quote, allowing your client to view and approve it online.
Billing and Subscriptions
Q9: What is the price of Costfield after my trial ends?
A: Costfield has a simple, single-tier subscription of $20 AUD per month. This gives you unlimited quote creation and access to all features.
Q10: How do I subscribe?
A: After you've used your 3 free quotes, the app will prompt you to subscribe. You can also go to 'Account Settings' -> 'Billing' at any time to enter your payment details and begin your subscription.
Q11: What payment methods do you accept?
A: We accept all major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, processed securely through our payment partner.
Q12: How do I cancel my subscription?
A: You can cancel your subscription at any time from the 'Billing' section in your 'Account Settings'. Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period, and you will not be charged again.

Account & Data Security
Q14: Is my client and financial data kept private and secure?
A: Yes, security and privacy are our top priorities. All your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We never share your quote data or client information. For a complete overview, please see our Privacy Policy.
Q15: Who owns the data and the quotes I create?
A: You do. You retain 100% ownership of all the data and content you create within Costfield. We simply provide the tools to help you manage it. This is outlined in our Terms of Service.
Q16: I forgot my password. What do I do?
A: On the login page, click the "Forgot Password?" link. Enter your account email address, and we will send you instructions to reset your password.
